If you've received a charge on your card with a description related to eFiling from your state, such as "TXEFILE*" or "ILEFILE*". This kind of charge typically indicates a transaction related to electronic filing. The numbers listed next to the charge could indeed be helpful in identifying the specific transaction, often serving as an envelope number. To further understand the charge and confirm its purpose, you can review your own filing history.
You will first sign into your eFile account for the state that the charge is from.
For an Individual account, navigate to the orange actions button positioned at the top right corner, then proceed to select "Filing History."
Within the "Filing History" section, locate and click on the magnifying glass or search icon situated at the top right corner.
You'll then find yourself here, where you can search for the envelope number listed on the transaction statement.
Please note: The number in the bank statement may be listed as 03762420-0. You will have to remove any leading zeros and anything after the dash at the end.
If you're using a firm account, start by filtering your filings to "My Firm". Then, proceed to search for the number listed on the transaction statement.
Next, upon finding the relevant envelope, click on the black Actions button positioned to the right of the envelope and opt for "View Envelope Details."
Upon opening and loading the envelope, you'll gain access to the envelope details, including the submitted username and all pertinent filing information associated with the charge.
If you have already reconciled your charges and still have unknown fees on your credit card there are a few things you can do before reaching out to Technical Support for help.
- Expand your search date when using the Reports – Please keep in mind that the Capture Date and the date you submitted your filing will be two different dates, so you may need to expand your date range by a few extra days in order to find all Captured Charges. Click here to learn how to use the Reports option.
- Look for the Order ID on your statement. This will start with a 0 and will typically end with -0 (for example 001234-0). The integers in the Order ID will translate to an envelope number on the EFile website (Envelope 1234).
- NOTE: Fee amounts can be adjusted by the courts during review. This can cause a 2nd pending charge to appear on your online statement. The original amount will be reversed but will show pending/processing for 3 to 5 business days (depends on your financial institutions hold policy).
- If you are able to locate your Order Id number, you can then search for the charge by using the Filing History.
- Click on the Orange Actions, click on Filing History.
- Top left click the Magnify Glass icon.
- Select the My Firm Filter
- Select the Accepted status (only accepted filings are charged)
- Enter a Data range and click Search
