Request to Merge Efiling Accounts

This form is used to merge the accounts of existing users on the website.

• Example: When a firm user creates their own separate account instead of registering with their firm's invite link.

In order to process your request, please have the Firm Administrator of the account you wish to join fill out the information below.

Then, have the Firm Administrator email this information to us at either [e-mail] or [e-mail]. Written consent from the Firm Administrator of the account the email address is currently registered in must be included as well.

Once the necessary information is completed and returned, your request will be processed. We must have written consent from the current Firm Administrator to transfer the account.

Merging Efiling Accounts FAQ

• I Accidentally Created a Firm Account. What Happens When I Merge Into Another Account?
  If your Firm Account only has one user (yourself), your account will be merged into the new account without your Payment Accounts, Attorneys, or Service Contacts
  • Example: Suzy accidentally creates a Firm Account for Firm X. However, she was supposed to create a sub-account under Firm Y's Firm Account, so she submits a Request to Merge Efiling Accounts. Suzy's account will be merged into Firm Y, but all the Payment Accounts, Attorneys, and Service Contacts that Suzy had set up for Firm X will not be merged with her. If other users existed on Firm X's account, all the Payment Accounts, Attorneys, and Service Contacts will remain on Firm X's account to be usable by the other users.

• I Have Other Users On My Accidentally-Created Firm Account. What Will Happen To Those Other Users?
  If your Firm Account had other Users on it, then only your account will be merged while theirs will remain a separate Firm Account. If these other users wish to remain in their Firm Account, then another Firm Administrator must be chosen. If they wish to join the other Firm Account, then the Request to Merge Efiling Accounts should include their accounts as well.
  
  • Example: As in our example above, Suzy accidentally creates a Firm Account for Firm X ([e-mail]) and adds two other new coworkers (Bob - [e-mail] and Thomas - [e-mail]) to it. However, she was supposed to create a sub-account under Firm Y's Firm Account, so she submits a Request to Merge Efiling Accounts. Suzy's account will be merged into Firm Y, but Bob's and Thomas's accounts will remain part of the accidentally-created Firm X account.
  • If Bob & Tom want to stay with the Firm X, then Suzy should designate one of them to be the new Firm Administrator when she merges her account into Firm Y's account. Here's more information on how to edit user permissions as a Firm Administrator.
  • If Bob & Tom want to join Firm Y as well and were added to Suzy's inadvertently-created Firm X account by mistake, then their accounts should be included in the Request to Merge Efiling Accounts.
    
    
• I'm Leaving a Firm To Join Another Firm. Should I Have My Current Efiling Account Merged Into My New Firm's Account?
  In this case, the best thing to do is have your previous Firm delete your current efiling account. Afterward, have your new Firm Administrator add you as a new user to their account. We have a guide for moving from one law firm to another that may be beneficial to you.
  
  
• Please Note...
  • We must have the approval of both Firm Administrators - the Firm Administrator that created the email account to be merged and the Firm Administrator governing the account we are merging the email account into - in order to process the account merge. (If the email account was inadvertently created as a solo firm, then that Firm Administrator would be the account owner.)
  • Email domains do not have to match in order for us to merge accounts. As long as we have the necessary permission(s) from the Firm Administrator(s), we could - for example - merge [e-mail] to whatever Firm Administrator account we are asked to merge it into.
  • We cannot perform an account merge for an inactive efiling account!
