When you e-file a case in Maryland, a clerk will review the filing. During clerk review, the clerk will decide if the filing is accepted, deficient, stricken, or rejected.
If deficient, the clerk will change the filing code to Deficient Filing and apply the deficient stamp to the document indicating that the document is deficient, then the clerk will accept the filing in order to attach a Case Number to the filing.
Corrective action is expected within 14 days.
- If a filing is sent but then rejected as Deficient, the Service Contacts on the case will receive a follow up email informing them the documents they received were rejected.
- To correct the Deficient filing, you should correct the document in whatever way the court advises you to, then file into the existing case and re-upload your corrected document in the Filings section.
If stricken, the filing will be stricken from the case file. The clerk shall notify all parties.
