What Are Templates Used For?
Templates are a feature within the e-filing system that allows users to create case initiation filings and existing case filings faster. Templates are a way to set the website up for the same type of cases and filings.
How Do I Create a Template?
To create a template for your firm you will want to click on the orange Actions button top right, then click on Templates. Once you click on the Templates tab, you will be able to enter the information that will consistently be a part of your filing and save it. Frequently used Templates can be saved as Favorites.
- Please Note: Templates are for specific court locations and specific case types in those courts (as different courts may hear different types of cases). To create a template, you must select a Court Location, Case Category, and Case Type.
Below is an example of how a template could be used.
How Do I Use a Template?
To use a template you have already created for New Cases, click on the orange Actions button and select Templates from the dropdown menu.
Locate the template you want to use in the Templates page, then click on the small black Actions link to the far right and select Use Template.
Once the template loads, it will create an entirely new filing draft. Complete the rest of the draft, then click the blue Summary button at the bottom right and submit the draft like normal.
To use a template you have already created for Existing Cases, click on the orange Actions button and select Filing History from the dropdown menu.
Locate the case you want to file into, then click the black Actions link to the right of the case and select File Into Case With Template from the dropdown menu that appears.
How Do I Edit a Template?
To edit one of your existing templates, first click the orange Actions button and select Templates from the dropdown menu.
On the Templates page, click the black Actions link to the right of the template you want to alter, then select Edit Template from the dropdown menu.
Modify the template however you wish, then click the blue Continue button to head to the next page and confirm the template's details.
Click the blue Save Template at the bottom of the page to lock in your changes.
Please Note: If you are using a firm account, all users associated with the firm will be able to access the templates that have been created within that account.
How Many Templates Can I Create?
The eFile & Serve website has no specified limits as to how many templates a user can create.
